Hyesung is the first member of "Shinhwa". He auditioned for a spot in the band while he was in America and made it in as the first member.

He was a member of another popular three member band, 'Group S' from September 2003 to January 2004, with their hit song being 'I Swear', during the time when Shinhwa members all went off on seperate directions to persure solo activities (Shinhwa did not break up though). He brought out the best of the other two members in 'Group S' and returns to the studio with Shinhwa to record their seventh album.
